Vikram: Chalisgaon, Maharashtra, India; I am Ph.D in Geomorphology My Thesis Title : HYDROGEOMORPHIC ANALYSIS OF TITTUR DRAINAGE BASIN Introduction of my research work:The Hydrogeomorphology is a newly emerging branch from hydrology and geomorphology. The hydrology deals with surface and ground water flow, whereas geomorphology is the science of landform. The hydrogeomorphology concern with the landform associated with surface and groundwater flow. It is a part of Earth Science. Hydrogeomorphology is a function of rainfall kinematics, surface topography, morphologic characteristics and basin morphometric properties. The river basin unit is the best confined unit for the hydrogeomorphic study. The river Tittur is one of the such well defined geomorphic unit for hydrogeomorphic study in North-West Maharashtra. The basis is yet intact to the hydrogeomorphic study. Tittur Basin is selected for the present study in response to geomorphic and hydrologic parameters of the drainage basin. The present study is related to watershed management. The watershed management is the need of the time for present water crisis.

About HydroGeomorphology

Analogous to the field of geomorphology, a subfield of geology, which deals with the structure and evolution of the surface of the earth, the new field of hydromorphology,a subfield of hydrology, deals with the structure, evolution and dynamic morphology of watershed systems over time (e.g. years, decades and centuries). The need for this new subfield of hydrology arose due to the enormous societal challenges and demands resulting from human impacts on environmental and water resource systems.

By the year 2050, the hydrologic cycle will be influenced by changes in water use, land use, and climate at nearly all spatial and temporal scales. It may be impossible to find a 'research'
watershed subject only to natural or virgin hydrologic conditions. Nearly every hydrologic method introduced prior to 2050 will have been adapted to account for the increased uncertainty and nonstationarity which has become the central challenges of our profession. Hydromorphologic scientists will develop a conceptual basis for improving our understanding of the impact of humans on the hydrosphere. Hydromorphologic engineers will develop methods for the detection, attribution, design, management and prediction of water resources in a hydrosphere which is subject to multiple and interacting sources of uncertainty and nonstationaries.
By the year 2050, the field of hydromorphology will be a rich and fertile young discipline dealing with the myriad of scientific and engineering challenges created by the wide range of natural and anthropogenic influences which have literally 'morphed' the hydrologic cycle at all spatial and temporal scales. By 2050, a major transition will have occurred in the development, management, and use of our water resources on local, regional, and global scales (Vörösmarty et al., 2004).
Hydrologic scientists and engineers have always been concerned with how to plan under nonstationary and uncertain conditions. What will be different in 2050, is that anthropogenic modifications to the hydrosphere will be so profound and pervasive that the central challenge facing hydrologists will be how to manage our water resources in an
uncertain and nonstationary environment while simultaneously responding effectively to ecosystem degradation, biodiversity losses, and global climate change.
